“I am very encouraged by what Governor Wolf proposed in his budget address to the General Assembly. The Governor has laid out a vison that many on both sides of the political aisle can embrace, and I applaud his bipartisan approach as we begin the job of reviewing his budget in detail.
“I am most pleased about the Governor’s proposals on education. Last year, the legislature passed historic state investments in public education. I am glad the Governor plans to build on this solid funding foundation with additional investments in our schools.
“I thank the Governor for again making our schools a priority. I wholeheartedly support his call for additional funding for k-through-12th grade, special education, pre-k and Head Start programs and higher education.
“Our children and the quality education they receive in the classroom are the keys to our future. Enhancing our investments in schools is foundational to the success of our state and country.
“As a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, I look forward to the several weeks of hearings we will be holding this winter on the budget.”
