Spotlight on Neumann University

Killion Report - Neumann University

Earlier this Fall, I was joined by Senators McGarrigle and Corman on a tour of Neumann University and learned about some of the great work Neumann is doing in our area.

Property Tax and Rent Rebate Deadline Reminder

The deadline to submit an application for a rebate on property taxes and rent has been extended to December 31, 2018. The original deadline was June 30th.

Pennsylvania’s Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program is available to Pennsylvanians age 65 and older; widows and widowers age 50 and older; and people with disabilities age 18 and older. The income limit is $35,000 a year for homeowners and $15,000 annually for renters, and half of Social Security income is excluded.

More information, including copies of the rebate application, can be found HERE.

Heating Assistance Available

Pennsylvania residents are now able to apply for assistance with their heating bills. Enrollment in the state’s Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) has opened for the cold weather months.

LIHEAP helps struggling families pay their heating bills by sending payments to utility companies and fuel providers. These assistance grants can be as large as $1,000.

For more information about income eligibility levels for LIHEAP grants and how to participate in this program, click HERE.

Assistance for Veterans Available

My partnership with the Pennsylvania American Legion to assist veterans at my Brookhaven office, located at 4110 Edgmont Avenue, is continuing next month.  A representative from this organization will be at my office on Wednesday, January 23rd from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
